Postcode

Each CD has been allocated a Post Office postcode. CD's split by postcode boundaries have been allocated to the postcode area in which the majority of its population and dwellings were enumerated. The field for postcode is six digits; the last four digits denote the postcode to which the CD has been allocated. The first two digits are zero fields and have been added in anticipation of a change of postcodes to six digits. For rural CD's which cover two or more postcode areas, the postcode allocated is from that postcode area which is assessed by inspection of census field maps and aerial photographs to have the largest population. All migratory CD's have been allocated postcode 0.
